eFootball™ 2022 is a great free-to-play soccer simulation game from Konami. It was previously known as Pro Evolution Soccer (PES) and is available through the gaming platform Steam. If you are just a casual gamer who likes to play a match once in a while, then the free options are enough to have some fun. You will get some virtual currency that you can use to buy some talents to build your Dream Team. And if you want to get more serious, you have the opportunity to pay some real money (in-App purchases). However, I had some fun without spending a dime. And the graphics, audio, and atmosphere are pretty decent, even with a mediocre system like mine.

More about eFootball

Konami strives not only to provide a realistic soccer simulation game but wants to create the largest eSports platform for football fans worldwide. You can play in the single-player mode against an AI opponent (that’s the modern slang for “against the computer”), or you can play against another player (PvP) online. The game features many popular teams from all the world’s major leagues. The screenshot shows my setup for a match between Bayern München and Manchester United.

Regarding Reviews

It seems that there are a lot of players who have given rather bad reviews. Pretty much all of them are players who have experience with the predecessors of this eFootball version or other soccer games. Their comparison is unfavorable for this game. However, in my opinion, this game is worth a try. It takes a little time to get used to the controls, but I had a lot of fun with this game. Although the game gave a warning that my graphics card did not meet the recommended system requirements, I was still able to play the game without any problems. This might have something to do with the fact that I replaced my old HDD with a new fast SSD (I highly recommend you do the same should you still use a slow HDD).
